TERMINATION OF ENROLLMENT
Bambini Dual Language Preschool reserves the right to accept, deny or disenroll students solely at its discretion.  BDLP can terminate a student after a 2-week notice.  BDLP can also
immediately disenroll a student at the Administrator and/or Director’s discretion.
The following are reasons that Bambini Dual Language Preschool would be inclined to terminate (disenroll) your child from our school:
•        Frequent delinquent or non-payment of tuition
•        On-going behavior problems that become disruptive to our program
•        Frequent failure to pick up your sick child within one hour of being notified
•        Frequent late drop-offs and/or pick-ups

CUSTODY
In most cases, natural parents shall be given reasonable access to their children at school and to their children’s official school records.  Exceptions to this will be made in cases
where there are court orders restricting the rights of one parent to access a child and/or the child’s official school records.

It shall be the responsibility of the natural parent who has a court order restricting the rights of the other parent to access a child or the child’s official school records to notify school
administration and the BDLP Administrator and Director of the conditions of the court order and to provide school administration with a current copy of the court order.

In cases in which a person other than the natural parent has been granted guardianship, the rights and privileges of the natural parent shall be considered divested in the absence of
court action granting the natural parents specific rights.  In cases of guardianship, the legal guardian shall be responsible for notifying school administration of the conditions of
guardianship and for providing the school with all pertinent written documentation or changes.

STUDENT RECORDS
Parents/guardians have access to their children’s school records.  School personnel observe confidentiality of student records and recognize that only important, factual information
should be in permanent records.  Authorization to view school records can only be obtained from the BDLP Administrator.

In addition, BDLP policies limit information that can be given out without permission of parents/guardians.  A child’s student records will not be released to the parent/guardian or
another school if tuition is not paid in full.  Procedures for reviewing records are available at the school.

CURRICULUM
The Vision of Bambini Dual Language Preschool is to provide all children with the tools they will need to succeed in the 21st Century.  We believe that children who speak, read and
write more than one language, are technology savvy, able to work together to solve problems, and invent new things are going to prosper in the new knowledge-based global
community.

Bambini Dual Language Preschool utilizes a 50/50 dual immersion education model. This model gives both languages equal instructional time in the classroom. English is instructed
for 50% of class time and the target language (Mandarin or Spanish) is instructed for the remaining 50% of class time. Languages are never mixed in an instructional day. Native
language teachers are utilized in order that students learn native language fluency. Therefore students will have two teachers. All Languages have the same blocks: Circle time, Story
time, Language and Literacy development, and Centers. (see below for explanations concerning these blocks.)  Children preview the thematic material in their native language and
then see it in their second language allowing them to make connections with the vocabulary and concepts. Students are encouraged to use the language being instructed but are
never belittled, coerced, or forced. Language is always learned in a non-threatening environment where children feel free to learn and express themselves in what ever language they
fell comfortable speaking in at that moment.

Bambini Dual Language Preschool believes that every child is an individual, who learns at their own pace, has different learning styles, and learns through developmental domains.
Therefore, the preschool uses multi-age grouping and its whole-child instruction supports children’s developmental domains and acknowledges the Multiple Intelligences theory first
developed by Howard Gardener in his book Frames of Mind (1983).

Multi-age grouping allows children to learn from their peers - new skills and knowledge with opportunities to cooperate and learn from each other.  It teaches them how to work in
groups to accomplish a common goal, skills that they will need to participate in the new global community.

Multiple Intelligences allows children to learn in their different individual learning styles.  Learning Style Theory proposes that every person learns in different ways and that it is good to
know your own style, also referred to as Meta-cognition.

Multiple Intelligences include:
        Linguistic (Language and Word Smart)
        Logical-Mathematical (Number Smart)
        Spatial (Picture Smart)
        Bodily-Kinesthetic (Body Smart)
        Musical (Music Smart)
        Naturalist (Nature Smart)
        Interpersonal (People smart)
        Intrapersonal (Self smart)

Developmental Domains posit that young children are developing in several domains simultaneously and that each area is developmentally important. The domains are interwoven.
Cognitive growth centers on the mind and how the brain works as children learn to learn.  Physical growth is how the child’s body grows and how the child learns to move in his/her
environment.  Social growth centers on each child’s skills in interacting with others. Emotional growth refers to the child’s development of self-esteem, self-control and learning their
individual place in the world.

Bambini Dual Language Preschool uses these theories of learning to deliver daily lessons that are taught in English and the target language(s). The curriculum has been developed
using thematic units in order that children observe the vocabulary and concepts first in their native language and then in the target language. This facilitates the child's brain schema
(filing system) and deepens the child's understanding and learning in the second language(s).

Bambini Dual Language Preschool will have a student-teacher ratio of eight students to one teacher allowing children to take advantage of many small group and one-on-one learning
opportunities throughout the day.

SCHEDULE

The day is divided in half by language for full-day and half-day classes where the block of time for each language is the same. Each block will begin with teacher instructed Circle Time
(10 minutes) where children will learn the calendar, the days of the week, letters or characters, weather, numbers, and songs through the weekly theme.

Then the children will begin literacy development with Story Time (20 minutes) that builds both languages through teacher-read stories and dramatic re-enactments of stories.

Language and Literacy development (10 minutes) consists of phonics and word or character learning around the theme.
Center Time (30 minutes) is when students get to explore their own curiosity and choose areas to discover. Center areas will include: Computers, Math, Science, Writing, Language,
Art, Blocks, Library, Listening center, Music, Discovery, Fine Motor, Gross Motor, Dramatic Play, and Sand & Water. Once students have chosen a center a teacher may guide the
children’s learning.

DISCIPLINE PROCEDURES
At Bambini Dual Language Preschool, we encourage self-control and personal responsibility through positive reinforcement for acceptable behavior.  However, there are occasions
when a student creates a situation at school which inhibits learning.  Since this is unfair to the other students, such behavior will not be tolerated, i.e.:
•          Fighting and quarreling
•          Discourteous speech and name calling
•          Destructive acts against school property
•          Continued disruption of class
•          Being disrespectful to staff

CONSEQUENCES
The following guidelines will be observed for children brought to the office:
1.        On the first visit to the office, disciplinary action will be taken and a written notice may be given to the parent or guardian.
2.        On the second visit to the office, disciplinary action will be taken and the parent or guardian will be notified by phone.

CHILD/ TEACHER RATIOS
Student teacher ratios will remain at eight students to one teacher in the preschool room and five students to one teacher in the infant and one’s rooms.

CONCERN PROCEDURE
In the event you have a concern please first address it with your child’s teacher.  If the situation does not get resolved at that point, you may speak with the school’s Director and,
ultimately, the school’s Owner.

additional day request form online or at the school, a week in advance, after consulting with the Director who will approve the additional day.  A fee of $38.00 per day will be charged for
pre-approved requests.  If your child attends without approval, the fee will be $50.00 per day.  Attendance charts are checked monthly against the tuition and fees information to be
certain students are only attending when they are scheduled.

VACATION SICK DAYS
Regular student attendance means more success for your child.  When your child is absent, please call the School phone number by 9:30 a.m. to inform the School of the reason for
the absence.  Please review the school calendar for the days that the facility is closed and plan your time off around our school calendar.
Tuition is due for both well and sick days.  If your child is absent more than five (5) consecutive days due to a family emergency or serious illness (hospitalization), a note from a doctor
is required.  At that time, a credit may be issued upon approval from the school Administrator.

WHAT IS CPS?
Child Protective Services (CPS) is a program mandated under ARS §8-802 for the protection of children alleged to be abused and neglected. This program provides specialized
welfare services that seek to prevent dependency, abuse and neglect of children. The Child Protective Services program receives, screens and investigates allegation of child abuse
and neglect, performs assessments of child safety, assesses the imminent risk of harm to the children and evaluates conditions that support or refute the alleged abuse or neglect
and need for emergency intervention.

WHO MUST REPORT?
The duty to protect children from child abuse, sexual abuse, and neglect is one that is incumbent on every school district and private school employee from crossing guards to
superintendents.  It is important that parents/guardians and families understand these obligations and the ramifications on school personnel.
All school personnel have an individual obligation to report under A.R.S. 13-3620.  This means that any school personnel, including certified and support staff, who receives an initial
disclosure, directly or indirectly, or makes the initial observation has the duty to either personally report or to ensure that a report has been made.

WHAT TRIGGERS  AN OBLIGATION TO REPORT?
A.R.S. 13-3620 provides that anyone who reasonably believes that a minor is or has been the victim of physical injury, abuse, child abuse, reportable offense or neglect that have been
inflicted on the minor by other than accidental means or that is not explained by the available medical history as being accidental in nature…shall immediately report or cause reports
to be made of this information to a peace officer or to child protective services (CPS) in the Department of Economic Security.

WHEN MUST THE REPORT BE MADE?
The report must be made IMMEDIATELY by telephone or in person and shall be followed by written report within 72 hours.
Any school employee who has orally reported to CPS or a peace officer a reasonable belief of an offense to a minor must provide written notification to the Director of the oral report not
later than the next workday following the making of the report.
Additional information on Child Protection Services and the reporting requirements and process can be discussed further with Bambini Dual Language Preschool’s Director or Owner
at anytime.

SICK POLICY
In case of illness there will be no credit issued, this applies for Infants and Toddlers as well.  When a child is dismissed from school because of a contagious illness, a 24-hour period
after the start of medication is required before your child can return to school.  Your child should remain at home until they are able to participate in a normal school day, including
outdoor play.  Please be sensitive to the fact that medications may be relieving the symptoms but the child may still be sick and need rest and TLC at home.
If any child, including Infants and Toddlers, displays any of the symptoms listed below, he/she will be isolated from the other children and the parents will be contacted.  Children with a
fever of 100 degrees or higher must be sent home.  Parents/guardians called to come and pick up their child due to a medical condition will need to arrive within an hour from that call.
If the parents/guardians cannot be reached, we will call one of the emergency telephone numbers listed on the application form. Arrangements must be made to have the child picked
up within one hour. Arizona State Law requires parents/guardians to arrive within 60 minutes.  Please come in a timely manner to pick your child up.  When they are sick they really
want their mommies and daddies.
Symptoms of special concern are:
•        Fever of 100 degrees or higher
•        Diarrhea (more than one loose stool)
•        Sore throat
•        Vomiting
•        Severe coughing
•        Difficult or irregular breathing
•        Yellowish skin or eyes
•        Unusual spots or rash
•        Severe itching of body or scalp
•        Head Lice
•        Pink Eye (eye does not necessarily have to be pink but may be discharging mucus)
•        Extreme or unusual behavior

A child who has experienced vomiting during the night or in the morning before school, diarrhea within the last 24 hours, a fever in the last 24 hours, persistent coughing, head lice or
nits SHOULD NOT come to school.  Parents/Guardians arriving to school with a child who is exhibiting these symptoms will be asked to take their child home.
A child with “pink eye” (conjunctivitis) cannot return to school until the condition has cleared up or the child has been on medication for 24 hours.  A child with a rash of unknown origin
should not attend school until the rash is gone or a note from a health care provider stating that the child is not contagious and may return to school.
Our Sick Policy also applies to all of Bambini Dual Langauge  Preschool staff and is strictly enforced.

MEDICAL ATTENTION
Each teacher has been given a first aid box to be used.  The box contains first aid supplies for the classroom teacher or assistant to administer first-aid and band-aids.  Whenever a
child receives any type of medical attention at school, the treatment given must be logged into the Front Office “Incident Report” notebook from our “Incident Report” (Ouch Report) form
that is filled out when a child has an injury that needs to be reported to parents/guardians.
Children are referred to the office when a condition persists that warrants a place to rest, a child may need to be separated from others for a time or to be sent home.

MEDICATIONS
No child is permitted to carry medication on his person, or cubby.  Any medication sent to school must be in the original container and have the name of the child, the name and
prescription number, instructions for administering the medication (including dosage, date and time the medication is to be given), and the reason the medication is prescribed.  A
“Medication Authorization” request form must be completed.  The child must have been on the medication for at least 24 hours.  The medicine is to be given to the School Secretary.
State regulations require that we do not provide or administer any pain reliever (Tylenol, aspirin, ibuprofen, etc.)

BITING POLICY

Our program recognizes that biting is, unfortunately, not unexpected when young children are in group care.  We are always upset when children are bitten in our program, and we
recognize how upsetting it is for parents/guardians.  While we feel that biting is never the right thing for young children to do, we know that they bite for a variety of reasons.  Most of
these reasons are not related to behavior problems. Our program, then, does not focus on punishment for biting, but on effective techniques that address the specific reason for the
biting.  When biting occurs, we have three main responses:

1.        Care for and help the child who was bitten.
2.        Help the child who bit learn other behavior.
3.        Work with the child who bit and examine our program to stop the biting.

Our teachers express strong disapproval of biting.  They work to keep children safe and to help the child who bit learn different, more appropriate behavior.  When there are episodes of
ongoing biting, we develop a plan of specific strategies, techniques, and timelines to address it.  We do not and will not use any response that harms a child or is known to be
ineffective.

We give immediate attention and, if necessary, first aid to children who are bitten.  We offer to put ice on the bite if the child is willing.  If the skin is broken, we clean the wound with
soap and water.  If children are bitten and the skin is broken, the parent is called.

When children bite, their parents/guardians are informed personally and privately the same day.  When children are bitten, their parents/guardians are informed personally that day and
given a copy of our incident form.  When we experience ongoing biting we develop a written plan with specific strategies, techniques, and timelines to work on the problem.  This written
plan is shared with all parents/guardians in the room.  Our policy is to never disclose the name of the biter or child who has been bitten.

Biting is always documented on our standard Incident (Ouch) Report form.  See Incident Report (Ouch Report) procedures on page 21.  We do our best to keep the name of the child
who bit confidential. There are times when a child who witnesses an act of biting will innocently share with others.

Once a year BDLP staff is trained on biting.  We have current resources on biting available for staff and parents.

INAPPROPRIATE BEHAVIOR POLICY
Our goal in correcting inappropriate behavior is to foster self-discipline and the spirit of cooperation by establishing basic ground rules. The foundation of these ground rules is respect
and responsibility.
Listening skills are taught and reviewed often so children are better prepared to follow directions and be cooperative members of a group. Each disciplinary issue is dealt with
individually.
Some of the common discipline problems of inappropriate behavior we see with children are problems like temper tantrums, power struggles, fighting with others, dawdling, whining,
naptime battles, lying, disobedience, or using bad language.
Using the discipline consequence method outlined here will make a positive difference immediately and can lay the foundation for a child’s future good behavior and success because
a well-disciplined child does better in school…and life.

CONSEQUENCES
1.        Warning
2.        Privileges taken away; Broken Rule Notice sent home.  Examples: Recess, One rotation of center time
3.        Privileges taken away; Broken Rule Notice sent home; Phone call home.  Examples: Recess, One rotation of center time
4.        Remove from classroom; parents contacted by phone; parent conference with teacher and Director.
5.        Disciplinary Suspension
6.        Termination of enrollment

UNACCEPTABLE BEHAVIOR POLICY
We strive to redirect unacceptable behavior whenever possible.  BDLP is committed to the well-being of each and every child.  In order to provide a safe, loving, and stimulating
environment, we expect a certain degree of cooperation from each child and parent/guardian as well.  We strive to protect each child and staff member of BDLP who can sometimes
become a victim of an aggressive child.
If a child deliberately inflicts physical harm to another child or to a staff member, the following procedure will occur:
1st Offense
Parents/guardians notified (in writing) of the specific incident, at the end of the day.
2nd Offense
Parents/guardians called and notified (in writing) of the specific incident at the end of the day.
3rd Offense
Parents/guardians called immediately and the child must be removed from the facility as soon as possible.  The child will have a one-day suspension.  Outside help is strongly
recommended at this point.
4th Offense
Parents/guardians called immediately and the child must be removed from facility as soon as possible.  The child will have a two-day suspension.  Parents/guardians, child, and
involved staff will have a meeting before the child returns.

5th Offense
Child is disenrolled and not allowed to return to our facility.
Bambini Dual Language Preschool will not accept abusive behavior.  We are responsible for protecting the children in our care as well as our staff members.
EMERGENCY PROCEDURES
In case of an emergency, 911 will be called.  Parents/guardians will then be contacted using the phone numbers on record.  Please keep your contact information current with the Front
Office and your child’s teacher.
Method of transportation - pending the nature of the injury, the child will be transported to the hospital by either the parent/guardian or an ambulance. If transported by ambulance, a
staff member will accompany the child and take the child’s personal file, which will contain consent forms (Blue Health form).
Notification of parents – Parents/guardians will be notified immediately in emergency situations. Parents/guardians may be notified after the ambulance is called pending the urgency
of the situation.
Procedures when parents cannot be reached - Every child will have within his/her file (Blue Health form) the names of two people who can be contacted in the event the
parents/guardians cannot be reached. Included in the file will be permission for medical treatment and permission for the child to be taken to the closest hospital.
EMERGENCY DISASTER DRILLS
Plan For Evacuation Of Center In Emergency – Attendance is recorded daily by teachers in their attendance notebook. The Teacher will take this book with their class during evacuation
procedures. Each child’s name is read to determine when evacuation is complete.
Evacuation Drills - The Director is responsible for assuring that Fire Emergency drills are conducted on a regular basis, at least once per month.  Evacuation drills are practiced with all
groups of children and staff, including Infants and Toddlers. Volunteers and Guests on our campus are asked to follow the emergency procedure as well.  A diagram of our emergency
procedures is posted near the door in each classroom.  Each teacher will discuss the appropriate procedure for the drill with his/her class.  Students are to exit the room quietly, stay in
a single file line, go to the appointed place and listen for instructions, facing away from the building. Evacuation cribs are in our Infant Rooms for easy evacuation.  Students will not
return to their classrooms until the return signal is given from school administration.
