Bambini Dual Language Preschool teaches children 6 weeks to 5 years old English and a second target language of the parents choosing. The other languages offered are Mandarin and Spanish. Other languages are being considered such as French, German, and Korean. Bambini Dual Language School believes that to be competitive in the new global economy children need an advantage such as a second language and an early education with an emphasis on literacy and technology.
Philosophy
Bambini Dual Language Preschool believes that for children to be competitive in the future it will be essential that they are able to communicate in languages. Research has also shown that dual language education allows students to develop high levels of proficiency in their first and second languages and achieve above grade level on academic assessments.
We will strive to provide a cutting edge, research based curriculum that focuses on languages, literacy, and technology. Through collaborations with Arizona State University, Bambini Dual Language Preschool will provide an education that rivals any other preschool in the Valley. We will provide your child with the tools to obtain a competitive advantage in the 21st century's new global economy.
We also believe that all children learn at their own pace and that providing them with an environment to explore and learn allows them to learn the world. Children need a balance of child-initiated and teacher-facilitated activities each day. We believe that children learn by experimentation, exploration, and collaboration. Children connect the learning they do in the classroom to real-world experiences and lessons. Themes are used to introduce information and build background knowledge so that learning takes place as the child explores and manipulates real objects and experiences.
Curriculum
Bambini Dual Language Preschool has two teachers in each classroom, a native speaker of Spanish or Mandarin and a native English speaker. The language and literacy component will be divided in half days where the instruction is in English and the target language throughout day. Literacy, language and technology are the focus of the curriculum and will be developed around themes. Each classroom is divided into Learning Centers math, literacy, art, music, blocks, creativity, language, computers, science, dramatic play. Daily Instruction will include child-initiated and teacher-facilitated activities each day. Classrooms are jam-packed with literacy in both languages and the goal will be that the students can begin to read when they enter Kindergarten. Teachers will read to the students at least 3 times a day allowing students to develop literacy skills and to model the love of reading. Literacy is the driving component of Bambini Dual Language School.
Bambini Dual Language school believes that all children learn differently and at their own pace. Through research, we believe that mixed age grouping and centers that address multiple intelligences, are crucial in the develop of each individual child. Mixed age classes provides all children with opportunities to cooperate and learn from each other. It teaches them how to work in groups to accomplish a common goal, skills that they will need to participate in the new global economy.
Bambini Dual Language school also acknowledges that all children need to be challenged, independent of age, in order to succeed academically. For this reason children will be monitored by teachers and parents and will be taught in small groups the skills that they are learning to master. Heterogenous and homogenous grouping will insure that all children are challenged and given the opportunity to learn at their own rate without impeding or delaying their learning ability and desire.
Technology
Bambini Dual Language Preschool children will use SMART BOARDS and computers daily and access the newest cutting edge educational software to enhance learning opportunities.
Professional Development
Collaborations with Arizona State University's Early Childhood Education Department and Educational Technology Department are being formed to increase professional development opportunities for teachers and to allow current research to drive instructional practices.
Bambini Dual Language Preschool will be one of the first cutting edge educational choices for parents in Arizona who want to provide their children an advantage in the 21st century.
